Magsasay Jungle Lodge

For an authentic Eco Experience in Costa Rica with the Braulio Carrillo National Park at your door steps, the 35 year old solid hardwood home was remodeled into 10 comfortable rooms, a large deck putting you practically into the jungle, lighted by solar power. The accent is on excellent food and service in a jungle environment, while you will learn to appreciate the spectacular complexity of the rain forest biodiversity, and the need to preserve it.

Magsasay Jungle lodge is Hacienda Pozo Azul 30 years old house located on the "Zona Protectora La Selva" at the entrance to the Braulio Carrillo National Park, and bordering the La Selva Biological Station. At only 7 miles on a 4x4 from our home base; It faces an impressive view of the Park Braulio through the Peje River which serves as a border of the Park

The lodge has 10 rooms for a total capacity of up to 36 guests in triple or quadruple occupancy. Lodge is provided with solar power for lightning and basic appliances as well as hot water showers. Bathrooms are just across the hall

The Lodge is ideal for those wanting to relax in a super natural environment, away from any disturbances, while admiring the extraordinary setting of the Lodge and the biodiversity that surrounds it.

It is an ideal place for bird, and butterfly watchers, through the many miles of trails and paths on the 900 acres. The enormous diversity of fauna in Sarapiquí is well known and documented: La Selva Biological Station, just next door has reported a total of 410 species of birds (Blake et al. 1990), and 204 species of butterflies (DeVries 1994).

A sample of the activities to do in Magsasay are listed below, giving you range of activities from hiking the trails and watching for birds to learning about organic black pepper production and growing trees, to accompanying cow hands in their daily rounds on the cattle herds on a horse.

It is also ideal for groups of special interest, be it business or organizations work groups or students, since the lodge offers the right scenario isolation, beauty and facilities for multimedia presentations.
