An authentic learning experience about the history and culture of traditional Costa Rican agricultural products and their organic production. We will take you through history to discover the role that sugar cane and coffee played in the colonial period and how Costa Rica became the #1 exporter of pineapple in recent years. You will have the opportunity to learn about crops such as vanilla, pepper, exotic fruit and basic foods in the tropical areas of the world. You will also learn about medicinal plants and their uses, and admire our collection of exotic Heliconias. We will visit our farm where you will spend times with Poultry, Sheep, Goats, Calves, miniature Falabella horses, rabbits and more.

Chapulín Tour
Chapulín in Spanish literally means a grasshopper, but in Costa Rica is a word traditionally used to describe a type of tractor used in farm work. At Pozo Azul we want our visitors to feel as part of our culture living the experience, that is why we now offer a special "Chapulín"tour for groups (mínimum 4 people), where one of our farmers will take our visitors on the “Chapulín” through “Nuestra Finca”, the gardens and pastures while explaining about their importance for Pozo Azul and the history and tradition of Costa Rica’s Agriculture.

Nature Walks
With only 0.03% of the entire surface of the planet, Costa Rica is home to almost 6% of the world's biodiversity; Sarapiquí has 4% of this biodiversity, turning this area as a MUST for Nature Experiences. Hacienda Pozo Azul is a 2500 acres Private Reserve that has designed more than 10 miles of jungle trails that offers alternatives for all, with different degrees of difficulty and variety of attractions. We have Nature walks that vary from 40 minutes to up to 3 hours. Most of our trails go through a 400 ft long hanging bridge over the Sarapiquí River with a magnificent view. The natural beauty of Sarapiquí combines with the excellent service and knowledge of our guides to provide a great experience for birdwatchers, photographers, students and everyone interested in experiencing the Costa Rican Rainforest.
Organic Cooking Classes
This tour is a great opportunity to learn about organic agriculture where you can not only see the production technique, but also have the experience of harvesting the different products in the field and turning them into delicious traditional dishes of Costa Rican cuisine. An ideal activity to share with family or friends since it is 100% experiential. We would provide the list of ingredients that we will need to prepare the menu of the day so that they can harvest them directly from the plant, then prepare and cook in a traditional firewood kitchen to later proceed to taste them.
